Reporting from Silicon Alley with vim & vigor

In the year 2010 & beyond…

I would like to cross paths with more people that share a global consciousness influenced by a willingness to explore the mind, body and spirit. They are concerned with:

  • sustainable living
  • green politics
  • alternative education & local economies
  • social justice & equal rights
  • human rights & animal rights
  • alternative therapies & fitness
  • raw, organic & other healthy lifestyles
  • Bikram yoga & meditation
  • spirituality & personal growth
  • nature & outdoor activities
  • theatre, music, literature

I would like to go see more plays and maybe write again. Perhaps make a short art film. A film that will capture our current generation, our diverse lifestyles, our influences, desires, dreams and daily frustrations.

What do we have that inspires us to be better and have more hope?

Everywhere I look there is fear! We must work together to fight fear and embrace the subtle beauty in the every day life. Time is slipping by and there are too many distractions. Simpler life is not necessary a boring one.

What will I leave behind? I wonder…and how about you?

“Future generations, if there is a livable world for them, will look back at the epochal transition we are making to a life-sustaining society. And they may well call this the time of the Great Turning.” Joanna Mach

Today was the first day of the Fall/Winter 2010 Fashion Week and last season in Bryant Park. Next year, the fashionistas are moving to Lincoln Center conveniently located a few blocks away from Equinox Columbus Circle, or better known as my second home.

At 2PM today I rushed downtown to see models walk the runway, dressed in fairy-tale designs from the whimsical mind of Toni Maticevski.

Maticevski is a Melbourne based fashion designer with the Yugoslavian roots. Toni Matičevski (Macedonian: Тони Матичевски) family is from Macedonia.

I really liked the music selection for the show! It was enchanting. What a great way to spend a Thursday afternoon.

This is a collection of photos my talented friend Tanveer Badal took of me while I was on the shoot for ELLE magazine.

This shoot took place in Williamsburg, Brooklyn at 151 Kent.

The art of movement. The art of total adrenaline rush!

“The physical aspect of parkour is getting over all the obstacles in your path as you would in an emergency. You want to move in such a way, with any movement, as to help you gain the most ground on someone or something, whether escaping from it or chasing toward it…” Sounds a lot like my days living in New York City :)

Here I was a stylist for Summer Rayne Oaks’ Planet Green commercial spot on Discovery Channel. The beautiful red dress she is wearing is from designer Gina Michele Eco-Collection.

The first concert I ever went to was The Prodigy! It was in the winter of 1995 in Belgrade.

Ironically, I got into the show, and to the first row via breaking and entering. They started the set with the song “Break and Enter” a few minutes after midnight.

10,000 people’s lives were never the same after this show.

Shortly after, Yugoslavia died and I was forced to move on and grow up. But, oh the memories, they inspire me to recreate excitement and preserve my childish enthusiasm.

It’s 2:46 AM and I just spent an hour dancing, alone in my kitchen, and it felt great!

Sea Features

She is erect

her bones infused

with the strength

of her imagination

She is waiting

her desires understood

coal burns outside

her new windows

She is returning

her voice found

old fears gone

blood runs to her hands

She is sculpted

her life’s angles

cradle her heart

new rhythms beating

She is broad

her skin promising

clasps and warmth

her wrists on my neck

guy wires

keeping me from tumbling

Her shoulder blades

syncopate my plams

and split my life lines

into quatrains

She smiles to herself

and she is warm

and she is rain

and I lean into the weather

relax into her promise

and settle

a few steps closer to myself

In my mind, this is where I am. Free, happy, riding my bicycle on the streets of Europe. Maybe Paris, Madrid or Belgrade. Nostalgia hits hard again.
